“Where’s Walden?” Rally and Caravan Send Off

Downtown Bend, OR at NW Greenwood & Bond Street

Bend event is one stop on the cross-district “Where’s Walden?” caravan led by

Oregon District 2 Indivisible culminating in a town hall in Hood River

On Saturday, Aug. 25, Bend residents will rally at NW Greenwood & Bond St. as part of a weekend, district-wide “Where’s Walden?” caravan led by Oregon District 2 Indivisible. From the Rogue Valley to Hood River, the caravan will cross Oregon, looking for Congressman Greg Walden, who hasn’t had a town hall for 500 days.

Working with Indivisible groups in Bend, The Dalles and Hood River, the event will include stops in Grants Pass, Ashland, Medford, Klamath Falls, Bend, The Dalles and Hood River. (See a complete list of times and locations below.) The caravan is expected to grow as Indivisibles from across Oregon Congressional District 2 join. It will culminate with a town hall in front of Walden’s office in Hood River Saturday night—with or without the Congressman. The Democratic challenger, Jamie McLeod Skinner, is expected to attend the town hall in Hood River.

Speakers at the Bend event will address topics including: Healthcare, Immigration, Public Lands, Labor, Gun Safety and Veterans.

The last week of August will mark 500 days since Greg Walden has held a public town hall. He used to brag about having one in every county in the first three months of the year. Now, instead, he holds small, invitation-only meetings that are not announced, and his constituents don’t know he has even visited their town until they see the press coverage the next day. His constituents are fed up, and through this caravan, have decided to take the town hall to him.

This unique event may capture national attention. It is being followed and supported by Indivisible National headquarters in Washington, D.C., and will be broadcast widely on such social media platforms as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Look for the hashtag #WheresWaldenCaravan.
