This Tuesday, let’s rally in support of our local candidates rather than in protest against the Trump / Walden duo of destruction in D.C. Key posts are being contested here in Bend and we are enthusiastically endorsing excellent, talented progressive candidates for coveted positions on the boards of the Bend-LaPine School District (Carrie Douglass & Angela Chisum), Central Oregon Community College (Erica Skatvold), and Bend Parks & Recreation District (Lauren Sprang).
We look forward to seeing you at our Tuesday gathering at the Peace Corner from 11:30 – 12:30. Bring your voices and your support for taking Bend back from the business interests and placing our teachers, our students and our community first!
Through the May 16 election, we will continue the theme of supporting our local progressive candidates and encouraging people to remember to vote! We are also advocating for the passage of the school bond which has received bi-partisan support across the community from the Bend Education Association, The Bend Bulletin and The Bend Chamber of Commerce among many other groups.
This is an important election because (1) it’s rare that Bend has contested races so we actually have an opportunity to make a choice for many positions on the School Board, COCC Board and Parks & Recreation Board and (2) these choices are real!
The power that the developers and the chamber have over Bend politics is being challenged by some very qualified candidates like Carrie Douglass, Erica Skatvold and Lauren Sprang which you can be proud to support. Also, Knute Buehler’s base of support and influence is being challenged at the local level by Angela Chisum.
With only a few weeks before the May 16 election, we need you and your talents. Let’s test our resolve now!
in peaceful solidarity,
Nancy Boever & Indivisible Bend
